Klimt’s “The Kiss” by Alice Kendall
“The most important chart about the American economy you’ll see this year”
The post WW2 economy was the most evenly distributed, fastest growing, and most stable economy that the United States has ever enjoyed and that is because income equality was relatively equal. Income equality is the single largest determining factor in the growth and stability of the economy. It’s not debt, it’s not private sector stimulus (which rarely if ever works), it’s income equality. For every 10th percentile increase in Economic Inequality, growth is slowed by 50%. Immagine where the country would be without Reagan’s brand of conservatism. The country would be trillions and trillions of dollars wealthier, poverty would be much lower, and we’d be much more advanced.
There is a reason why Democratic presidents have a statistically significant average economic growth increase that well exceeds that of republicans, and why democratic congresses have an average economic growth rate that also exceeds their republican counterparts. Liberal policies work. That’s settled fact.
Remember that your vote counts. The best thing that you can do for your country is get involved and vote blue.
VOTING IS CERTAINLY NOT THE BEST THING ONE CAN DO FOR ONE’S COUNTRY, though please always research & vote & deny our innate & conditioned complacency.
In addition parties in 2014+ are much closer than ever before (look at the donors for each candidate & recognize the # of readily acknowledgable oppressors that donate to all but a severely few candidates), but it is generally a better idea than voting for a Republican.
The premise of minimum wage, when it was introduced, was that a single wage earner should be able to own a home and support a family. That was what it was based on; a full time job, any job, should be able to accomplish this.
The fact people scoff at this idea if presented nowadays, as though the people that ring up your groceries or hand you your burgers don’t deserve the luxury of a home and a family, is disgusting.
